What is a Double-sided PCB?
Double-sided PCB, also known as double-layer PCB, 2-layer PCB, has two conductive layers: one layer is located on the top surface of the PCB, and one layer is located on the bottom of the PCB. This means that circuits and components can be located on both sides.
There are two conductive layers in a double-sided PCB, so they are used for tasks that a single-sided PCB cannot accomplish. The back of the PCB board is also used to achieve complex designs and make full use of space. Because of the two conductive layers, the PCB can have more components in a smaller area, while a similar single-layer PCB can have half the components.
These PCBS have more advantages and are preferred for a variety of applications. In all types of PCBS (single, double and multi-layer), double-sided is the main use and preferred.
